Egypt: Clampdown on Islamists ahead of elections!

Dr.Raof Arabi flew from egypt, his home to Saudi Arabia for a job in the world’s richest oil company. He never new that he would be whipped or go to prison. Many people in Egypt more than 750 people were having a clampdown on peolpe the don’t want to be presedednts cause of their color skin. The Egyptian government is cracking down on the Muslim Brotherhood ahead of municipal elections scheduled for April 8. Almost 100 members of Egypt’s oldest Islamic group have been arrested recently in many provinces. The group’s lawyer says it’s a common tactic but that the Muslim Brotherhood has always survived. In elections in 2005, it won 20% of the seats in parliament.

Since then, the government has tried to curtail the group’s influence through arrests and a media campaign. The measures were combined with a number of amendments that the ruling party introduced to the Egyptian constitution last year imposing more restrictions on political participation by the 80-year-old organization.

In the meantime, an Egyptian military court is expected to hand down a verdict in a case involving 40 Muslim Brotherhood leaders on Feb 26. Among other things, the defendants are accused of financing terrorist activities and money laundering.

This article affects me because I would just cry if I were to make fun off just because I’m black or white. Also I think it isn’t fair to not let other people vote anymore for elections just because the governore says there’s enouph presidents I mean many Egyptions right now even small ones might have a dream of becoming president and they would not be able to accomplish their goals because the governore says “NO MORE PRESIDENTS ALOWED IN EGYPT”!!!

Egypt: Too Many Babies

If you ever decide to go to egypt, stop and listen to the babies all around you and to the sound of babies wailing. Egypt’s population is growing too fast to sustain it, especially in the squatter neighborhoods of Giza, where 23,000 babies are born each year. That population overall = 1.9 million people. President Hosni Mubarak is again encouraging birth control under the slogan. He says,” Before you add another baby, make sure his needs are secured.” The country’s population has nearly doubled to about 76 million people. According to Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics. Some counts put the number at more than 80 million. That’s very high!!! I mean, can’t you imagine that high number!?!

This article affects me because if our country’s population was that high, we wouldn’t have a lot of money because we would probaly waste it and we need it for our shelter. Besides, the economy is very high right now so that would also affect us.

Saudi Arabia: Mercy for a ‘witch’?

Human Rights Watch has asked King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia to rescind the death penalty imposed on an illiterate woman convicted of witchcraft. A woman named Fawza Falih was accused of involvement in supernatural occurrences, including the sudden impotence of a man she is said to have bewitched, according to the human rights organization. Falih admitted to such powers under police interrogation, but retracted her confession, claiming it was made under duress. In 2006, an appeals court ruled that Falih could not be executed because she had recanted.

But a lower court, which is guided by the strict interpretation of Wahhabi Islam, reinstated the death penalty to protect the creed, souls and property of this country. What this means is that they had to kill the witch because people kept on sayind it was very dumb that other people mercied the witch just because she could fix anything like if they are having problems.

This article affects me because I would feel very sorry if I were to mercy that witch because that is very messed up and sounds dumb to do.
